SCVAA Softball Homepage
Due to the Covid-19 virus, all SCVAA Softball, Kindergarten T-Ball, Mountain Biking and K-9th. Grade Baseball have been postponed until Spring 2021.
Baseball, T-ball, Mountain Biking and Softball seasons update, May 7th., 2020:
The Bd. of Directors of the SCVAA have recently discussed, remotely, what would be possible with our programs this Summer as they relate to the COVID-19 situation. We took into consideration the Governor's Task Force recommendations, as well as the school district and many cities decisions regarding field access and also the many comments that we have received from parents. Since the Governor has extended the Stay-at-Home order until May 18 th and many cities and schools have closed all fields for use until at least May 31 st, we have reached the conclusion that we are unable to offer safe and productive programs this Spring/Summer.
The Bd. of Directors of the SCVAA have decided to postpone the 2020 Softball, Kindergarten T-ball, Mountain Biking and K-9th. Grade Baseball seasons until Spring 2021.
We are going to try and possibly have our Seniors Baseball League (10th-12th grade) if it is allowed and it can be done safely. We would like to be able to give this years High School Seniors their last year of baseball if possible. We will be waiting a few more weeks to see if it is even going to be allowed to have our 10th.-12th. grade baseball program. If their season is not possible, or for any 12th. grader not wanting to participate this year, we will issue full refunds (less a $5 or $10 processing fee, depending on original registration amount) to all those 12th. grade players.
In postponning all other Spring/Summer sports' seasons until 2021, we will be able to keep all players registered, and in most cases, even left on their originally assigned teams. We will adjust all players current grades up one level. No refunds will be automatically issued, only credit for next season since 2/3-3/4 of expenses have already been paid for such as: player and coach caps and visors, player shirts, player pants, coach shirts, baseballs, softballs, field chalk, replacement helmets and bats, score books, first aid kits, ice packs---etc. We always have to purchase everything in Jan. and Feb. to be ready to go in April. In issuing credit instead of refunds, we are insuring nobody loses any money, parents nor the VAA and this will actually save many people a little money because if they were moving up to a level that cost more: K to 1st., 3rd. to 4/5th., 6/7th. to 8/9th., that would not need be paid. We would still have to refund our 12th graders if we are unable to give them a safe season of some kind since unfortunately they would not be eligible to play next season and this December we will open up registration to new Kindergartners and anyone who moved to the area over the Summer, but everyone else would be already registered and all set to go for 2021? If come next season you decide not to play, move away, or play for another league or sport...etc., refunds would be allowed at those times.
We understands that these decisions are not necessarily the most popular, but we would never want to subject your children to hazardous situations. We hope this whole situation will correct itself sooner rather than later, and we can resume normal programs in the very near future. In the meantime, we appreciate your continued patience and understanding during this unprecedented time.
Softball, baseball and t-ball season update, April 9th., 2020:
We are holding off on a decision to either cancel the season or proceed with a season until it becomes more clear what is going to happen by May and June. We are still hoping we may be able to have some sort of season in June and July but it all depends on what happens over the next weeks and month and what the health officials advise? Even if we are allowed to and we do have a season, we have made changes to assist with social distancing and virus mitigation. There will be no bleacher seating areas anywhere. Parents will need to watch from baselines and spread themselves out. Restroom buildings and drinking fountains will remain closed and instead porta-potties will be placed on the outskirts of fields. We will not be taking team pictures this season. We will do everything we can to keep people apart while allowing kids to get outside, have some fun and burn off some energy as long as it's safe to do so.
If we do have to cancel the entire season, we won't be able to issue refunds since 2/3-3/4 of expenses have already been paid for such as: player and coach caps and visors, player shirts, player pants, coach shirts, baseballs, softballs, field chalk, replacement helmets and bats, score books, first aid kits, ice packs---etc. We always have to purchase everything in Jan. and Feb. to be ready to go in April. What we would have to do is credit everyone for next season. In fact, we could move everyone up one grade level in our system so they could even stay registered. This would actually save many people a little money as if they were moving up to a level that cost more, that would be left alone. We would have to refund our 12th graders since unfortunately they would no longer be eligible and we would open up registration to new Kindergartners and anyone who moved to the area over the Summer, but everyone else would be registered and all set to go?
If we do have some sort of season in June and July and you would rather not participate this year, you will still receive the full credit for next season.
